When should I arrive?

International students are advised to arrive in Vienna for the summer term in the beginning of February and for the winter term in the beginning of September. Depending on the courses of your choice, classes start mid September or mid February.

Are there courses in English?

The UAS Technikum Wien offers the following degree programmes fully in English:
Master Biomedical Engineering Sciences, Master Intelligent Transport Systems and Master Telecommunications and Internet Technologies.

ECTS – what is this?

European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) indicates the maximum semester workload per course for students.


For each course students are accredited certain ECTS points. Information on courses and ECTS you can find via www.technikum-wien.at or our Campus Information Site http://cis.technikum-wien.at.


1 ECTS equals a workload of 25 hours á 60 minutes (≠ courses à 45 minutes!).

How many ECTS can I take per semester?

The number of ECTS you take during your semester at the UAS Technikum Wien, depends on your own study plans and curriculum. Please check with your study programme or International Office!. In any case we strongly recommend a maximum of 30 ECTS.

Do I get a Certificate?

At the end of each term and after the examination period, lecturers send the grades of each student. When we have received the grades you get the so-called Transcript of Records from the International Office. The Transcript of Records lists all courses including grades and ECTS points. Please note, that the transcript is an official document.

How about Bachelor or Master Theses at the UAS Technikum Wien?

You can write your thesis in German or English. In order to write your thesis, the following information is required before your official application and your arrival:
topic or area of research, abstract, required ECTS, special formal criteria.
