The renewable energy technologies industry is one of Austria’s fastest growing economic sectors and a leading source of exports. For example, about 70% of Germany’s biomass heating systems come from Austria. Accordingly, experts in the field of renewable energy technologies are in high demand. For example, they
- work as energy system technicians, plant and process engineers at power utilities,
- are responsible for the engineering, construction, operation and maintenance of renewable energy plants,
- develop energy concepts,
- assist interest groups and media in energy matters,
- are responsible for the building services engineering,
- plan heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems for buildings,
- work as energy consultants,
- develop monitoring concepts for the safe operation and output control of renewable energy systems,
- work as project supervisors or project managers,
- develop studies on behalf of energy agencies,
- are product managers,
- work as quality managers to ensure compliance with applicable guidelines, regulations and standards,
- are hired as test and development engineers by research and testing institutes, or
- advise customers of banks and insurance companies about available financing options and grants.
