UAS Technikum Wien issues graduates a so-called diploma supplement when awarding their academic degrees. The diploma supplement is a certificate that is attached to the diploma as an annex. It is intended to ensure the international transparency of degrees from institutions of higher learning and to facilitate the academic and professional recognition of qualifications.
The diploma supplement is based on a model developed by the European Commission, the European Council and UNESCO/CEPES, and it describes the type, context, contents and status of the completed degree. The diploma supplement does not contain any value judgments, statements about equivalence with other qualifications or recommendations regarding recognition.
The diploma supplement offers students
- mobility through a degree that is easier to understand and compare in foreign countries.
- a detailed description of the course of study and the skills gained during the degree program.
- an objective description of the results achieved and the skills gained.
- easier access to jobs and postgraduate studies abroad.
- increased employability.
- easier access to education and lifelong learning.
For UAS Technikum Wien, the diploma supplement
- promotes academic and professional recognition and thus increases the transparency of qualifications.
- contributes to the preservation of the autonomy of the individual countries and institutions and, at the same time, offers a uniform framework that is recognized throughout Europe.
- promotes the competent evaluation of qualifications that can be understood in other educational contexts.
- increases the level of recognition of UAS Technikum Wien in foreign countries.
- increases the employability of graduates in Austria and abroad.
- saves time because the diploma supplement provides answers to a number of questions that the administrative offices of institutions of higher learning are often asked regarding content and the transferability of degrees.
