Competence centers

Task

The central task of the Competence Center Social Skills is to support the Bachelor and Master Degree programs in the design, staffing and quality assurance of all courses relating to personal development.

Goals

The primary goal of the competence center is providing students at UAS Technikum Wien with the personal and social skills they will require for working at a company, taking over leading positions or establishing their own business. In order to reach this goal, the competence center aims at providing courses having a sound scientific basis, which are practice oriented (e.g. rely on lecturers with high practical experience) and didactically innovative (including case studies, e-learning, etc.). Additionally, we aim at enabling graduates to act independently, think creatively and quickly adapt to new situations. The supposedly “soft“ competencies play an important role in enhancing the personalities and experiences of the future executives; thus, “soft facts are hard facts.” Finally, the competence center aims at contributing to the increasingly important internationalization of our degree programs (focusing on conents relevant in an international context, using English as the language of instruction, etc.).
