Guest lecture "Science, Technology and Innovation in China – Towards a New Era of Development with Chinese Characteristics"

Since winter term 2018/19 Mag. Alexander G. Welzl teaches the International Campus course „From ‚Made in China‘ to ‚Created in China‘“ every Thursday starting at 5:00 p.m

(Master's degree program Innovation and Technology Management). This is the first lecture at a European university focusing on China’s National Innovation System as well as management of innovation and creativity in Chinese corporations (including Chinese owned corporations abroad). The goal is to develop a non-Eurocentric, fact based and curiousity driven insight into innovation culture, performance and capacities of People’s Republic of China, its people and corporations. Each term outstanding international experts are invited to deliver guest lectures. 

On Thursday, 7 November 2019 we welcome the honourable Mr. LEI Fengyun, Counsellor for Science and Technology with the Embassy of Peoples Republic of China in Austria. Mr. LEI took office in Vienna in September 2019. In previous affiliations he held positions of Project Officer, Department Head and Director General in the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA) in Beijing as well as SAFEA-offices abroad (1985 – 2018). He graduated in mechanical engineering from Hunan University in 1983. During his university studies he worked as visiting scholar at Kennesaw State University (Kennesaw/Georgia, USA) and James E. Beasley School of Law of Temple University (Philadelphia/Pennsylvania, USA). Furthermore as part of his academic education Mr. LEI paid brief visits to Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh/Pennsylvania, USA), California State University (California, USA), University of Toronto (Canada), University of Tasmania (Australia) and Hong Kong Polytechnic University (China).
