Sports are in high demand. From international professional sports to recreational sports for health-conscious amateur athletes, the desire to test one’s physical skills and discover one’s abilities and limits is apparently deeply rooted in human nature. Accordingly, there is now a great deal of financial clout behind these athletic activities. The sale of sports equipment generates some € 6 billion of revenue a year in Austria alone. The sporting goods industry is responding to this development with increasingly extensive research and ever more complex technologies. Companies within the industry are looking for specialists who can combine sports science with technical and medical expertise.
UAS Technikum Wien’s Sports Equipment Technology bachelor’s degree program is the only one of its kind in Europe. By focusing on the development and production of the best sports equipment on a high-tech and academic level the degree program adds a new dimension to sports and sets standards for the future. The comprehensive degree program covers technical, scientific and operational aspects and is rounded off by subjects in business, languages and personal development. This broad foundation allows students to combine professional qualifications with the flexibility required for their future careers.
