01 August, 2025
The game I3ergsteiger was developed as part of the AI Engineering degree program and was presented to an interested audience of experts and gamers at the LEVEL UP Festival 2025. The positive response confirmed the creative potential of the project.
From June 28 to 29, 2025, the LEVEL UP – The Gaming Festival took place in Salzburg. Among the participants was the platform adventure game I3ergsteiger, which was developed by Jan Loos and Markus Chvatal as part of their master’s degree in AI Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien. Julian Breddy provided technical support for the project.
At the LEVEL UP Gaming Festival, I3ergsteiger was nominated for the shortlist of the PGDA Talent Awards 2025 and was only narrowly beaten by the winning project Pollucean by students from the University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten. I3ergsteiger was awarded the Best in Class Award 2025 at the FHTW in January 2025.
The game was presented during the festival at a dedicated booth by the developers, accompanied by Alexander Nimmervoll, who is responsible for game development in the Master’s program in AI Engineering, and met with great interest from visitors. The team was able to gather valuable feedback that will be incorporated into future improvements and new features.
Explore Austria’s diverse mountain landscapes
I3ergsteiger is a platform adventure game in which players explore the diverse mountain landscapes of Austria. They play their way through handcrafted levels, collect beautiful flowers, meet friendly locals, and find their own way to the summit. Players take on a fun challenge as they master the unique slingshot movement mechanic to reach the top of the leaderboard.
