EuProGigant Open House Day: Insights Into the Latest Developments in the Field of Data Rooms

10 December, 2024
A meeting place for groundbreaking Data Space projects in the manufacturing sector: the EuProGigant Open House Day at the Palais Ferstel in Vienna brought together partners, sponsors and representatives from industry from across Europe. Representatives from UAS Technikum Wien were also in attendance.
At the beginning of October, Horst Orsolits and Robert Fellner took part in the EuProGigant Open House Day at Palais Ferstel in Vienna, which was held under the motto “Navigating Data Spaces”. The event offered valuable insights into the latest developments in the field of data rooms in production environments and their significance for the European manufacturing industry
A workshop was held the day before the event, providing an opportunity to take a closer look at the main topics of the event. Among other things, the focus was on the digital product passport, a tool for tracking products throughout their entire lifecycle. This product passport is designed to contribute to transparency and sustainability by providing comprehensive documentation.
Exchange on future developments in digital technologies and data rooms
Some exciting lectures were held during the Open House Day: In addition to Leonore Gewessler, Federal Minister for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology, who spoke about the ecological and social opportunities of projects such as EuProGigant, other experts from industry and research also gave presentations, including Thomas Trautner, Matthias Weigold, Claudia Schickling, Christian Bölling, Jens Schneider and Friedrich Bleicher. Among other things, the importance of Gaia-X for small and medium-sized companies, the future of digital twins and further applications of the digital product passport were highlighted.
In addition, the event offered numerous opportunities to exchange ideas with other participants about projects and future developments in the field of digital technologies and data spaces. Three current demonstrators were presented here:
-) Mobile processing machine: This machine enables the flexible processing of components directly on site, which increases efficiency and flexibility in manufacturing.
-) Validation platform: This platform checks and validates production processes and data to ensure quality assurance and error reduction.
-) Ideal component matching: This project facilitates the production of precisely fitting component pairs by using a common European data infrastructure.
EuProGigant Open House Day 2024 proved to be informative and enriching for the Industrial Product Lifecycle Technologies field of expertise. On the one hand, the network for teaching and research was significantly expanded, and on the other hand, valuable insights and impulses were gained for future work in the field of data rooms in production, industry and digital technologies.
