Experienced Hydrogen Expert Visits Bachelor’s Degree Program in Hydrogen Engineering

Erich Lugbauer, CTO of Gas Connect Austria, recently shared his latest insights from the field at UAS Technikum Wien. The lecture demonstrated how closely science and industry are already working together in the field of hydrogen technology.
Students of the Bachelor’s degree program in Hydrogen Engineering at UAS Technikum Wien recently had the opportunity to engage with Erich Lugbauer, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Gas Connect Austria, during the lecture Hydrogen Resources (2nd semester).
As CTO, Lugbauer is responsible for innovation management and all hydrogen-related projects at Gas Connect Austria. In his guest lecture, he provided in-depth insights into the challenges of operating hydrogen pipelines and outlined what lies ahead for pipeline operators in a decarbonized future. The session also included a lively discussion with the students. Program Director Peter Muckenhuber emphasized the importance of industry input: “It’s a great opportunity for our students to learn directly from experienced professionals.” Gas Connect Austria is also a cooperation partner in the program’s dual study model.
