Focus on Human Safety: Erasmus+ BIP at Lapin AMK in Finland

26 June, 2025
UAS Technikum Wien, with its Department of Life Science Engineering and the ILSE project, was part of the international Erasmus+ program at Lapin AMK in Rovaniemi, Finland. Together with partners from Italy and Portugal, innovative concepts for “human safety” were developed.
In May 2025, a team from the Life Science Engineering department and students were at the Lapin AMK in Rovaniemi, Finland, as part of an Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program (BIP). They were joined by partner institutions from Portugal (UTAD) and Italy (University of Bergamo) as well as around 40 students from four countries.
The aim of the BIP was to promote interprofessional collaboration between nursing and technology – under the guiding theme of “Human Safety”. A preparatory online week, supported by theILSE project (funded by MA23 – City of Vienna), was used to prepare the students for the topic.
On site, the international teams worked on interdisciplinary projects and took part in practical workshops, including
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Simulation of emergency situations
- Intubation training
The BIP was a complete success and impressively demonstrated how important interprofessional and international learning is for future healthcare.
