Focus On Mental Strength: Extreme Athlete Christian Redl Visits

23 May, 2025
A keynote speech on mental strength inspired students on the Bachelor’s program in International Industrial Engineering.
The well-known extreme athlete and world record holder Christian Redl, who has made an international name for himself as a freediver and motivational speaker, visited the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien on May 2, 2025. Together with Sabine Traxler (Head of the Bachelor’s program in Business and Engineering), this lecture has been offered regularly for several years with the aim of providing targeted support to students in challenging phases of their studies.
Mental strength as a key competence
The event focused on the topic of mental strength – a key element for top performance, not only in elite sports, but also in everyday study and professional life. Christian Redl used personal experiences and practical tips to show how to stay calm, focused, and activate your own mental resources in stressful situations, such as before exams.
“This time of the academic year is particularly challenging for our students, who are heavily involved in their careers alongside their studies,” emphasized Sabine Traxler. “Christian Redl’s lecture comes at just the right time – shortly before the final exams. It offers concrete tools that students can use to strengthen their mental resilience.”
Workshop planned as follow-up
Due to the positive feedback, the topic will be explored in greater depth. An accompanying workshop with Christian Redl is already planned, where students will be able to apply and further develop the mental strength strategies presented.
