Focus on Sustainable Innovation: EU Project ProLight General Assembly in Finland

At the beginning of October, the three-day meeting of the ProLight consortium took place in Vaasa, Finland. Momir Tabakovic, Head of Competence Field for Renewable Energy Technologies at UAS Technikum Wien and project coordinator, took part in the event, which was characterized by intensive collaboration, innovative discussions, and a clear focus on the energy transition. The EU-funded ProLight project aims to develop sustainable neighborhood solutions and drive forward the energy transition in Europe.

UAS Technikum Wien had already played a central role in the fourth Capacity Building Workshop in Brussels in the summer. There, initial findings from the project’s six demonstration districts were presented,  including the Vienna demo site, where UAS Technikum Wien is actively working. During the general meeting in Finland, the partners presented the current status of the project, discussed upcoming milestones, and exchanged views on the challenges and opportunities of sustainable energy supply. A special highlight was the visit to the demo site in Vaasa, an energy-positive student residence that demonstrates innovative approaches to sustainable building and living. Participants had the opportunity to talk to residents and gain valuable insights into their experiences.

Another highlight was an interactive learning game. This “escape room” game encouraged participants to think about climate adaptation and cooperation and showed how playful approaches can promote dialogue about sustainability. The meeting ended with a review session with the European Commission, where the results achieved so far were presented and valuable feedback was obtained for the next project phase.

UAS Technikum Wien contributes its expertise in the field of renewable energy technologies and energy communities to the project. The aim is not only to test innovative solutions, but also to make them replicable in other European regions.

With its work, UAS Technikukm Wien is making an important contribution to implementing the goals of the European Green Deal and developing sustainable neighborhood solutions in Europe.
