From AI to the Energy Transition to Women in Stem Professions: UAS Technikum Wien at BeSt Wien 2025

This year, University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien was once again represented at Austria’s largest education fair. In addition to personal consultations, three inspiring lectures provided special highlights.
From March 6 to 9, 2025, University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien had a stand at BeSt Vienna, Austria’s largest education fair. For four days, visitors were able to obtain comprehensive information about study opportunities and career prospects. In addition to personal exchanges at the stand, UAS Technikum Wien also offered exciting specialist lectures on current topics from science and industry. BeSt in Vienna opened its doors for the 40th time, this year for the first time in Messe Wien, Hall C.
Four lectures by UAS Technikum Wien attracted numerous interested parties and stimulated lively discussions:
Specialists in the energy transition
Peter Muckenhuber, head of the bachelor’s program in hydrogen technology, gave a lecture on career opportunities in the field of renewable energies and sustainable economic development on Thursday. He showed how the energy sector is changing and which qualifications will be particularly in demand for skilled workers in the future.
Women in STEM professions
On Saturday, Sylvia Geyer, rector of University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien, talked about the successes, challenges and promotion of diversity in technical professions. Her lecture was met with particular interest among young women and highlighted the importance of targeted support and networks for women in STEM subjects.
Using artificial intelligence
On the same day, Lukas Grömer, lecturer at University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien, provided exciting insights into the world of artificial intelligence. He presented various AI tools and explained their practical applications in studies and at work. The lecture impressively showed how AI is increasingly changing our working world and which skills will be particularly in demand in the future.
Around 340 exhibitors
Around 340 exhibitors showed the full range of offers for training and further education, as well as for starting a career and for professional reorientation. Among them were universities, universities of applied sciences, academies, colleges, schools, private education providers and counseling services from all over Austria and many other countries. Interest groups, federal ministries and authorities were also present.
UAS Technikum Wien stand at BeSt Wien 2025 was very well attended throughout. Numerous school pupils, students and people interested in further education took the opportunity to find out about the wide range of courses offered by the university of applied sciences. Information on innovative degree programs such as hydrogen technology, artificial intelligence and sustainable resource management was particularly in demand.
Students and staff to advise interested parties
UAS Technikum Wien presented itself at the fair with a 70-square-meter stand and a large video wall. A total of 35 students were on hand to answer the numerous questions of the visitors and share their personal experiences. In addition, seven employees from the Marketing & Communications department and the Information Center were on hand to provide interested parties with the best possible advice. During the four days of the fair, around 1,100 valuable contacts were made.
