Hertha Firnberg Schools and UAS Technikum Wien celebrate successful educational cooperation in the field of STEM and women

29 April, 2024
15 years of innovation and equality with the “Communication and Media Design” program.
With the signing of a new agreement, the Hertha Firnberg Schools and the UAS Technikum Wien are continuing their long-standing fruitful educational partnership within the framework of the innovative educational focus.
The Communication and Media Design (KoMd) program at the Hertha Firnberg Schools combines the core elements of contemporary vocational training – business, languages, general education and the basics of service management – with a technical and scientific foundation program that focuses specifically on creativity. This unique fusion not only promotes technical versatility, but also gender equality by breaking down stereotypical roles and offering students broader perspectives for their professional future.

Starting as an ambitious project with just a handful of students, KoMd has developed into one of the most successful training programs at the Hertha Firnberg Schools. “We bring technology to the girls when the girls don’t go to technology” is the credo that continues to this day. The result is a school that is attractive to both girls and boys and in which the gender ratio is now balanced. This forward-looking approach has resulted in consistently high enrolment figures, demonstrating the continued relevance and attractiveness of this educational focus.
By renewing the agreement, the Hertha Firnberg Schools, together with their training partner Technikum Wien, are sending a strong signal for the future. Innovation, educational diversity and equality will remain central pillars of this unique educational cooperation.
