High Demand For Newly Designed AI Master’s Program At UAS Technikum Wien

07 September, 2026
More than 1,300 people began the application process for the comprehensively revised AI Master’s program at UAS Technikum Wien, but only 90 were able to secure a spot through a multi-stage admissions process. However, applications for the fall 2027 semester will be accepted starting in October 2026.
Few fields of technology have evolved as dynamically in recent years as artificial intelligence. Generative AI, large language models, and autonomous systems have opened up new possibilities for application—while at the same time, the demands placed on the development, integration, and responsible use of AI systems are increasing.
UAS Technikum Wien is responding to this trend with a comprehensive redesign of its master’s program in Artificial Intelligence, established in 2020. Under the name Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, the new curriculum—starting in fall 2026—will integrate foundational technical and algorithmic knowledge even more closely with current technologies and their practical applications.
Applications for fall 2027 open in October 2026
Due to the very high number of applications, all available spots for the fall 2026 intake have already been filled, despite an increase in the number of admission spots to 90. Therefore, no further applications for this academic year can be accepted. Applications for the fall 2027 intake will be accepted again starting in October 2026.

From Deep Learning to Trustworthy AI
The program focuses on machine learning methods, statistical modeling, and data processing, as well as in-depth topics in artificial intelligence and data science. These include, among others, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and big data analytics.
At the same time, the new curriculum places greater emphasis on the skills that are crucial for the professional application of AI in companies and organizations: MLOps, Machine Learning Engineering, AI & Data Law, AI & Data Ethics, as well as Explainable and Trustworthy AI and AI Security.
“Artificial intelligence is one of the most strategically important topics of our time. Graduates are in high demand, and a wide range of career paths are open to them,” says Bernhard Knapp, program director of the Master’s program in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science at UAS Technikum Wien.
Individual Specializations and Real-World AI Projects
Through several elective modules, students can choose their own areas of specialization. Options include Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Autonomous AI Systems and Reinforcement Learning, Robotics AI, Predictive Maintenance, and Machine Learning Engineering.
Working on concrete projects remains an essential component of the program. Through project-based learning, students tackle real-world problems and apply methods and technologies from AI and data science in practical settings. As a result, the program is designed for individuals who not only want to apply AI systems in the abstract but also wish to gain a deep understanding of how they work and translate that knowledge into professional applications.
Potential career fields range from AI engineering, machine learning, and data science to data engineering, AI project management, product development, innovation, and research.
Taught in English and designed for working professionals
Starting in the 2026/27 academic year, the master’s program will be offered entirely in English and is designed for working professionals. It comprises four semesters and 120 ECTS and leads to the academic degree of Master of Science (MSc). Classes are held in the evening. Typically, 60 spots are available each year.
Admission requires a relevant bachelor’s degree or an equivalent university degree. In particular, prior knowledge in computer science, mathematics, and technical fields, as well as solid programming skills, is expected.
