Innovative Solar Projects at European Photovoltaics Conference

28 October, 2024
Research team from UAS Technikum Wien presents innovative projects at the EU PVSEC in Vienna.
The 41st European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (EU PVSEC) took place in Vienna from September 23 to 27, 2024. UAS Technikum Wien was strongly represented with Alexander Erber, Bernhard Grasel and Momir Tabakovic and presented pioneering projects in the field of photovoltaics.
EU PVSEC: A global platform for photovoltaic innovations
The EU PVSEC is regarded as the world’s largest conference for photovoltaic research, technologies and applications. It brings together international scientists, industry representatives and political decision-makers to discuss the latest developments in the field of solar energy. In addition to lectures, the event also offers a comprehensive exhibition of the PV industry, where innovative technologies and concepts are presented.
UAS Technikum Wien: Research in the field of street solar and building-integrated photovoltaics
Alexander Erber and Momir Tabakovic presented two of their latest research projects at the conference. In a presentation, they explained the “Failure Mode Analysis” of Austria’s first street-integrated photovoltaic system. This work, supervised by Bernhard Grasel, investigates the reliability and efficiency of PV systems integrated directly into the road surface.
In addition, Momir Tabakovic presented his research on international policy and industrial measures for building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) as part of the International Energy Agency IEA PVPS Task 15. This work aims to promote the development of BIPV markets worldwide.
International networking and Austrian PV research
In addition to the scientific contributions, Erber and Tabakovic were also actively involved in the Austrian pavilion, which was managed by the Austrian Photovoltaic Technology Platform (TPPV). There they presented the latest research results from Austria and networked with international partners. The conference thus provided an ideal platform to strengthen Austria’s role in global PV research.
UAS Technikum Wien’s participation in the EU PVSEC once again demonstrates the importance of the university as a driver of innovation in the field of renewable energies.
