Medical technology in the heart of the Waldviertel region the 13th MedTec Summer Academy took place

23 July, 2025
From June 29th to July 5th, students, lecturers, industry partners, and research collaborators came together to exchange ideas and drive innovation in medical technology.
This year marked the 13th edition of the MedTec Summer Academy, held in the heart of the Waldviertel at the Kunsthaus in Horn. The MedTec Summer Academy welcomes Bachelor’s and Master’s students from all areas of medical technology who are eager to explore new challenges and connect across disciplines.
31 dedicated students spent a week addressing current issues across various medical technology areas. The core activities included workshops focused on company projects, keynote lectures, networking opportunities with business and research experts, and a varied accompanying program.
What a fantastic week it was! The MedTec Summer Academy 2025 brought together motivated students, inspiring guests, and visionary company partners for a truly unique experience in innovation, collaboration, and creativity.
.
Throughout the week, interdisciplinary student teams worked with great enthusiasm on real-world challenges provided by our industry and research partners. The mix of backgrounds and ideas led to exciting solutions, fresh perspectives, and a spirit of teamwork that was contagious.
We were honored to welcome high-ranking guests from science and industry, who not only shared their insights but also actively supported the teams – offering guidance, encouragement, and a glimpse into their fields of expertise.
The week was filled with intense collaboration, creative thinking, and above all: joy and motivation. Whether during hands-on sessions, spontaneous discussions, or the much-anticipated final presentations – the energy was high and the results truly impressive.
This year’s participants came from universities and universities of applied sciences in Austria, Germany, as well as Ukraine. Thanks to collaboration with the OEAD Cooperation Office in Lviv and the Association for the Promotion of Biomedical Engineering in Europe, five Ukrainian students were once again able to participate in the MedTec Summer Academy. This initiative aims to foster future cooperation in the field of medical technology and medical IT with the Ukrainian Catholic University Lwiw, further promoting the international orientation of the MedTec Summer Academy.
