Murau Energy Camp: Between the Power Grid and Climate Targets

17 June, 2025

The Murau Energy Camp provided students at the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien with a forum for discussing the opportunities and challenges of electrification. International speakers shared their insights into regulatory issues and system development.

On May 8 and 9, 2025, the 11th Energy Camp Murau took place in Murau, Styria, under the motto “All electric society – is the future electric?” A group of students from the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in renewable energies had two days to attend specialist lectures, discuss, network, and address the following questions: Are we already on track to achieve climate neutrality? Are our grids ready for a successful energy transition? How will the energy systems of the future be designed, and how does the electricity market actually work? These and other topics were examined from all angles at the 2025 Energy Camp.

Renowned speakers

The Energy Camp was accompanied by a number of renowned speakers. Among the speakers were Christian Holzleitner, Head of Unit at the European Commission (Directorate-General for Climate Action), Christine Materazzi-Wagner, Head of the Electricity Department at E-Control Austria, and Barbara Schmidt, Secretary General of Oesterreichs Energie.
