Neighborhood Connections: A Visit to Comenius University Bratislava

16 March, 2026
During a study trip to Bratislava, students and staff from UAS Technikum Wien immersed themselves in international research, new perspectives, and lively exchanges with Comenius University.
As part of Internationalization at Home, the International Office of UAS Technikum Wien is organizing a series of regular study trips to partner institutions in neighboring countries. These one-day visits allow students and staff to experience international academic environments, explore research collaborations, and connect with peers abroad, without the need for a full exchange semester.
This semester, students and staff from UAS Technikum Wien travelled to Bratislava for a day visit to our partner institution, Comenius University Bratislava. After an introductory presentation at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics, students were divided into smaller groups to explore different academic areas, including computer science, environmental physics and biomedical physics. They had the opportunity to learn about current research projects, visit laboratories such as the Future Technologies Lab, and speak directly with researchers and professors about their work and study opportunities. The visit provided valuable insight into the university’s research environment and strengthened the collaboration between the two institutions.
In the afternoon, the group enjoyed lunch, where participants had the opportunity to experience traditional Slovak cuisine and continue their informal exchange. Afterwards, students and staff joined a guided walking tour through the historic centre of Bratislava, exploring its charming Old Town streets, historic landmarks, and views along the Danube. The cultural program provided a relaxed setting to reflect on the day’s academic activities while discovering the history and atmosphere of the Slovak capital before returning to Vienna in the evening.
We would like to sincerely thank our partners at Comenius University Bratislava for their warm hospitality and engaging program, as well as all participating students and staff from UAS Technikum Wien for actively embracing and bringing internationalization to life together with the International Office.
