29 April, 2024

The future of building-integrated photovoltaics was a key topic at the meeting in France.

Momir Tabakovic and Stefan Savic from the Renewable Energy Technologies competence field at the Department of Industrial Engineering took part in the kick-off meeting for Phase 3 of the International Energy Agency Photovoltaic Power Systems Program (IEA PVPS) Task 15 in mid-April. The meeting took place in Sophia Antipolis on the Côte d’Azur. UAS Technikum Wien has been actively involved since the first phase eight years ago and leads the national consortium.

IEA PVPS Task 15 focuses on the integration of photovoltaics into buildings (BIPV). The importance of BIPV is steadily increasing, as it represents a solution to the land consumption of photovoltaics and the dual use of buildings. In the current phase (2024-2027), various priorities are being addressed, including the role of BIPV in a decarbonized circular economy, framework conditions and social acceptance as well as the development of innovative BIPV technologies and applications.

The national consortium from Austria focuses in particular on topics such as the color design of BIPV modules, as Austrian manufacturers produce such modules and their characteristics can influence performance and approval procedures.

The kick-off meeting had a broad agenda that included presentations on various topics such as digital technologies, normative research, product evaluation and dissemination of results. Workshops and networking sessions offered participants the opportunity to exchange views on current developments and plan future steps.
