Sports Equipment Practice: Mountain Bike Workshop on the Hohe Wand

Students from Human Factors and Sports Engineering braved the weather and applied their know-how to practical measurements on sports equipment.
In the fifth semester, students on the Sports Equipment specialization of the Human Factors and Sports Engineering degree program deal with three different types of sport. They started with mountain biking in September. For the practical sessions, they headed to the Hohe Wand Wiese trail center with plenty of motivation and sufficient rain protection.
Equipped with the knowledge of materials science, biomechanics, product-specific technology and standards from previous semesters, the students took to the field. They developed practical questions and collected data using smartphones. The data was analyzed and the results published in the form of scientific posters.
