FH Technikum Wien: Summer School in the home of Google, Apple and Co.

20 April, 2023

UAS Technikum Wien and Wüstenrot enable four students to spend a summer in Silicon Valley.

For the second time, FH Technikum Wien is taking four participants to the “Silicon Valley Summer School” at San José State University (California, USA) – this time the program is financially supported by Wüstenrot Technology and will take place from June 26 to July 21, 2023. Together with other students from all over the world, the participants will get a unique chance to immerse themselves in the home of Google, Apple and Co.

In addition to the lectures during the actual Summer School, there will be a supporting program with company visits and one or two tourist trips on the weekends. Trips to San Francisco and Stanford University are planned. Travel, accommodation and participation in the Summer School are financed by the FH Technikum Wien together with Wüstenrot Technology.

“Experiencing the spirit of Silicon Valley up close and personal is a very special experience for our students. Participants from the previous year reported that they came back to Austria afterwards not only with more knowledge, but also with a different attitude towards innovation and progress,” says Florian Eckkrammer, Managing Director of FH Technikum Wien.

Insights and meetings with start-up experts

For five weeks, students will gain in-depth insights around the topics of product and service development as well as marketing. The Summer School schedule also includes visits to institutions such as Plug and Play Tech Center, Computer History Museum or California Institute for Quantitative Biosciences (QB3), to companies such as Apple, Google and Intel as well as meetings with start-up experts. Participants were selected based on creatively submitted motivational videos and letters. All bachelor students of the FH Technikum Wien in their 3rd and 5th semester as well as all master students were eligible to apply. One student per faculty is eligible for the opportunity.

“We are very pleased that Wüstenrot can contribute to provide some students of the FH Technikum Wien with experiences on innovative design and technology in the heart of global innovation in Silicon Valley in California. This international experience will be very helpful for later professional activities, this is also a big priority in the transformation of Wüstenrot Technology that is currently taking place”, says Christian Fuchs, Managing Director of Wüstenrot Technology.
