From Vienna to Eindhoven: Successful Start of Two Student Projects in the Netherlands

31 October, 2024
International start for the projects EpiQ and MindEase, students from UAS Technikum Wien worked in Eindhoven.
Senior Lecturer/Researcher Birgit Pohn from the Cloud Services & Security field of expertise and eight students from the third and fifth semesters of the Bachelor’s program in Computer Science traveled to the Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Eindhoven from September 2 to 6, 2024. During this week, after a campus tour, the starting signal was given for two international student projects.
EpiQ: a restaurant portal that allows users to search and book tables. Based on profile data and personal preferences, users receive individualized menu recommendations that improve their culinary experience.
MindEase: an online portal that helps patients and therapists to find care and appointments faster for mental health issues. The online portal facilitates access to professional help and promotes more efficient therapy planning.
This week was not only intensive and productive, but also saw the emergence of many new friendships. The successful cooperation between Fontys University of Applied Sciences and FH Technikum Wien as part of the WE-SEE project (Vienna Eindhoven Software Engineering Exchange) has been in place for many years. This long-standing collaboration promotes knowledge transfer and strengthens the connection between both institutions.
The trip was organized as an international short-term mobility. The International Office of the UAS Technikum Wien has supported all travelers in obtaining an Erasmus grant.
During the semester, the students will work together online. The project will be completed at the UAS Technikum Wien in January 2025. We are already looking forward to the return visit!
