A student at UAS Technikum Vienna spent a semester in Finland, where he was involved in an innovative project. He developed a game-based digital solution for assessing cognitive abilities.
Lukas Aufmesser, a student at University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien, spent a semester at the Lapland University of Applied Sciences (LAPIN AMK) in Finland. There he worked on the implementation of gamified information and communication technology as part of the “Ennakoi” (Finnish for “anticipate”) project. The aim of the project is to support older people in their daily lives with digital solutions. Together with the research team, Aufmesser developed a game-based puzzle that is used to assess cognitive abilities.
Playful approach increases acceptance of technology among older users
The game-based approach makes the technology easy to use and increases older users’ acceptance of it. This international collaboration is an impressive example of how students at the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien are actively involved in innovative projects and gaining valuable practical experience. Lukas Aufmesser completed a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering at the university and is currently studying for a master’s in data science.
