Horst Rode Is the New Commercial Director of UAS Technikum Wien

UAS Technikum Wien, Austria’s university of applied sciences for technology and digitalization, has a new commercial managing director since December 1: Horst Rode. He succeeds Johannes Höhrhan, who held this role on an interim basis alongside his regular duties as managing director of the Vienna Industrial Association and is now returning to the executive board of UAS Technikum Wien as vice president.

Dr. Kari Kapsch, President of UAS Technikum Wien, is looking forward to working with the new Commercial Director: “Horst Rode brings with him a wealth of experience and broad expertise in the areas of finance and controlling, digitalization, and quality management, and is a profound expert in the university of applied sciences sector. Our common goal is to build on a solid economic foundation to sustainably meet our high standards of excellence in teaching, research, and innovation, and to contribute to the training of sought-after specialists and the further development of Austria as a center of business and innovation. Horst Rode summarizes his goals for the positive development of the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien under the motto “Creating space”: “On the one hand, as a physical resource to continue to offer students and staff a modern infrastructure and contemporary working environment for learning, teaching, and research in a growing university. On the other hand, in a figurative sense, ‘creating space’ for a good management culture in which solutions are developed and implemented jointly as a team, thereby further expanding the role of the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien as an attractive employer and the number one university in the technical field.”

Together with Managing Director Florian Eckkrammer, Bakk., Horst Rode is responsible for the strategic and operational management of UAS Technikum Wien and represents the university in public bodies and in the university of applied sciences sector. As part of the business distribution plan, he is responsible for finance/procurement/controlling, human resources, marketing & communications, legal & compliance, and facility management.

About

Horst Rode was born in Graz and studied business administration at the University of Graz. After working in management consulting, he moved to FTW – Forschungszentrum Telekommunikation Wien (Telecommunications Research Center Vienna), where he served as managing director and authorized signatory for more than ten years. Since 2013, Rode has been a member of the management board (CFO) and university management at FH Campus Wien.
