Springboard to the USA: Four students with Marshall Plan Scholarships

23 January, 2026
In the summer semester, four students from UAS Technikum Wien will be writing their master’s theses at highly renowned U.S. research institutions. This is made possible through the Marshall Plan Scholarship.
The Marshall Plan Foundation, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2025, has sent more than 1,000 students from Austrian universities and universities of applied sciences to U.S. research institutions over the past two and a half decades. UAS Technikum Wien has been cooperating with the Marshall Plan Foundation since 2011 and has already enabled more than 50 students over the past 15 years to write their master’s theses in the United States. Numerous student testimonials from recent years can be found on Globetrotter.
UAS Technikum Wien is pleased about the strong interest and the success of four scholarship recipients for the summer semester of 2026:
- Sebastian Grünewald, Master’s Degree Program IT Security: University of California, Berkeley. Work title: From Hype to Hard Evidence: Governance You Can Ship

„Going to MIT is a massive opportunity, but it’s demanding – especially financially. The Marshall Plan Scholarship allows me to contentrate on my thesis without financial stress and anxiety.“
- Samanta Preka, Master’s Degree Program Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine: Harvard University. Work title: Neuro-Immune Interactions. Investigating Interoception of Infection and Inflammation in Zebrafish
„For me, the Marshall Plan Scholarship is more than financial support – it’s an opportunity to grow, explore new cultures, and take meaningful steps toward my future.“

We wish the students all the best for their research stays in the United States and look forward to hearing about their experiences!
