Technikum Meets UNAM: A New Partnership In Namibia Takes Shape

A new university partnership with the University of Namibia (UNAM) is taking shape. The focus is on joint research, exchanges, and projects ranging from computer science to green hydrogen.
Last week, a delegation of UAS Technikum Wien visited the University of Namibia (UNAM) in Windhoek to officially kick off for the partnership and explore opportunities for academic and research cooperation.
The visit offered a valuable opportunity to connect with UNAM’s Executive Management, academic departments and researchers, and to gain insights into the institutions’s strategic priorities, programmes and research strengths. Across an intensive programme, the delegation explored potential collaborations in areas including computing and digitalisation, green hydrogen and renewable energy, materials science, biotechnology, healthcare and rehabilitation sciences.
Namibia’s Agenda for Green Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Research
A particular highlight was the exchange around Namibia’s green hydrogen agenda and renewable energy research, as well as discussions on how our institutions can work together through joint research, academic exchange, knowledge transfer and future collaborative projects. The programme also went beyond academic exchange. Campus tours, the SANORD Annual Conference, the UNAM Cultural Festival and insights into life in Windhoek provided opportunities to experience the vibrant academic and cultural environment of Namibia.

In addition to Managing Director Florian Eckkrammer, representatives from UAS Technikum Wien included Agnes Kriz (International Office), Erich Markl and Daniel Bell (Faculty of Industrial Engineering), and Harald Wahl and Thomas Mandl (Faculty of Computer Science & Applied Mathematics).

From arranging the programme to bringing together the right people for the right conversations, you made this visit an incredibly valuable experience.
A promising start to a partnership that is expected to give rise to many joint ideas, projects, and encounters in the future.
