Time for Hygge: A Scandinavian Morning in the Spirit of Internationalization@Home

Over coffee and cinnamon rolls, the opportunity arose in the auditorium of UAS Technikum Wien to get to know Scandinavian universities and to make intercultural contacts.
On Tuesday, 11 March 2025, the International Office hosted a Scandinavian breakfast to create an international campus environment in the spirit of Internationalization@home. This event offered students and staff the opportunity to get to know the UAS’s partner institutions in Denmark, Sweden and Finland in a relaxed atmosphere over coffee and cinnamon buns and to exchange ideas about the culture of the Nordic countries. In addition, an competition awaited the visitors with a surprising question about the Nordic countries. Three lucky winners were delighted to receive a €20 voucher each from Flixbus.
This event was organized for the fifth time and is now an integral part of the International Office’s catalog of Internationalization@home activities. Each semester, the focus is on a different region or country so that participants can always gain new cultural and culinary impressions. In summer semester 2025, the focus was on Scandinavia.
International experience right on campus
The aim of the Internationalization@home concept is to enable international experiences directly on campus – without the need to travel. Events such as the Scandinavian breakfast give students the opportunity to find out about the partner universities and the countries and also to make contacts with international students.
Initiatives such as this Scandinavian breakfast actively promote the international flair at the UAS Technikum Wien, enabling a lively exchange between students. In this way, Internationalization@home is not only understood as a concept, but actively lived.
