We are a certified family-friendly university!

In mid-November, UAS Technikum Wien was awarded the hochschuleundfamilie certificate in the Aula der Wissenschaften for its commitment to family friendliness. The state seal of approval for family-friendly higher education policy was presented by Claudia Plakolm, Federal Minister for Europe, Integration, and Family Affairs.

For Managing Director Florian Eckkrammer, Bakk., “the ‘hochschuleundfamilie’ certificate is an important sign both internally and externally. It confirms our commitment to creating a working and studying environment that actively enables and promotes the compatibility of work, study, and family life. We want to actively respond to developments in the labor market, but also to the needs of our employees and students in all situations. For us, family friendliness is an expression of sustainable social responsibility and, beyond that, a strategic success factor with which we want to increase our attractiveness as an employer.”

Target agreement with concrete measures

The regained basic certificate includes a target agreement with concrete measures to be implemented by 2028, covering the following areas:

• Package of measures for family-friendly study organization

• Package of measures to strengthen family-friendly science and teaching

• Package of measures for flexible work organization oriented toward different stages of life

• Measures in the areas of qualification and leadership

• Measures in the area of parental leave and sabbatical management

• Coaching services for employees

• Establishment of formats for increased presence of family-related topics/services

• Needs assessment regarding the expansion of childcare per location and listing of offers

• Measures with a focus on caring for relatives

• Package of measures for a family-friendly information and communication policy

Natalie König, Head of Human Resources at the Technical University, is also delighted with the quality mark: “We are very proud to have been awarded the hochschuleundfamilie certificate. Achieving this certificate would not have been possible without the dedicated cooperation at our university. I would like to express my sincere thanks to all employees who contributed to this important step with their ideas and commitment.
