Ideas For The Future: Youth Entrepreneurship Week At UAS Technikum Wien

27 May, 2026
Over four days, the students developed marketable concepts and presented them to a jury. The DEFAB team won with a gentle graffiti removal method.
From 18 to 21 May, everything at UAS Technikum Wien revolved around innovation, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. As part of Youth Entrepreneurship Week, 30 students from the Higher Federal Training and Research Institute for the Chemical Industry (HBLVA Rosensteingasse) worked intensively on innovative business ideas and developed solutions to everyday challenges. Supported by coaches and experts, concrete start-up concepts were developed within a few days and presented to a jury at the end.
To kick off Youth Entrepreneurship Week, the students were welcomed at the UAS Technikum Wien. Rector Silvia Geyer introduced the university and provided insights into the importance of innovation and practical learning. Peter Muckenhuber, Program Director of the Hydrogen Technology programme, also welcomed the participants and presented his programme as well as future oriented topics related to sustainable technologies.
From brainstorming to developing professional start-up pitches
The working phase of the week then began: initially, the young people focused on identifying social and everyday challenges. Building on this, they developed initial approaches to solutions, which took shape as concrete start-up ideas over the course of the four days. The five teams were supported by two trainers who guided them throughout the entire process – from brainstorming to developing professional start-up pitches.
The resulting projects addressed a variety of topics. One team, DEFAB, for instance, worked on a gentle solvent for removing graffiti, aiming to contribute to an improved urban landscape. VitaCheck developed a smart food storage container designed to reduce food waste using sensors. Schwum focused on a more hygienic household sponge with a special coating, whilst ESV Card’s aim was to simplify access to and management of doctor’s appointments. U-Conditioning also emerged as a sustainable concept for neutralising indoor odours using reusable filter systems.
After four intensive days, the teams presented their polished start-up pitches to a jury and were able to demonstrate how initial ideas can develop into concrete concepts with entrepreneurial potential.
Gentle solvent for graffiti removal convinced the jury
The DEFAB group was particularly successful, securing victory at this year’s Youth Entrepreneurship Week. With their idea for a gentle solvent for graffiti removal, the team impressed the jury and emerged as the winner among the competing projects. We warmly congratulate the team on this success.
