More Than Just AI Hype: Students In The AI Engineering Master’s Program Presented Current AI Projects From Both Research And Industry

16 June, 2026
Students showcased practical AI solutions for medicine, energy, finance, and more. Posters, demos, and discussions brought AI to life.
At the 4th Artificial Intelligence Master Symposium (AIMS) on June 10, 2026, at the UAS Technikum Wien, students in the AI Engineering Master’s program (to be renamed Artificial Intelligence & Data Science starting in the fall) presented their final projects. UAS Technikum Wien’s Ceremony Hall provided the setting for 41 students to present their master’s theses as posters, while individual projects were showcased through live demonstrations on screens. Over 100 participants took the opportunity to learn about current developments in the field of artificial intelligence and to engage in conversation with the students.
A wide range of current AI topics: Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Large Language Models, audio analysis, Game AI, and much more
The presented projects covered a wide range of current AI topics, including Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Large Language Models, Generative AI, Reinforcement Learning, Computer Vision, audio analysis, Explainable AI, and Game AI. The projects demonstrated how AI methods can be applied in practical settings—such as medical image analysis, energy and battery management, document processing, AI chatbots, financial forecasting, gaming, real-time detection, and robust decision-support systems.
A concise overview of current technical developments
The focus was not only on model accuracy and automation, but also on issues of interpretability, generalization, efficiency, and practical applicability. The symposium thus offered a concise overview of current technical developments and highlighted the diverse ways in which applied AI is used today in research, industry, and digital applications.
In addition to professional exchange, the evening also provided an opportunity for networking in an informal atmosphere. Delicious refreshments were provided—including 60 pizzas. At the conclusion of the event, awards were presented to the best projects.
AIMS: annually showcasing work from the AI Engineering Master’s program
AIMS is aimed at those interested in AI from universities, research, industry, and the general public, and annually showcases the breadth of work from the Master’s program in AI Engineering at UAS Technikum Wien, with specializations in AI Technologies and Game Engineering.
