Serious Game: Climate Fitness Challenge – Operation Westbahnpark

The serious game “Climate Fitness Challenge – Operation Westbahnpark” was presented at the annual Climate University meeting in Finland in early November 2025. Participants then had the opportunity to play and test the game themselves in two sessions.

In the game, participants take on different roles and work together to plan a park based on the Westbahnpark initiative. Through intensive discussion, they seek to find collaborative solutions for various socially and environmentally relevant scenarios. Action cards challenge players to stay within their budget, make compromises, and still design a park that creates added value for both the population and the environment.

Goal: Design a climate-friendly park

The goal of the game is to design a climate-friendly park that harmoniously combines ecological sustainability, technology, social health, education, and a sense of community.

The serious game was developed as part of the completed City of Vienna, MA23 Competence Team Urban Climate Reactor, which was funded by the City of Vienna to make the research results accessible to a broad public.
