The Future Of Applied Research: The Eurashe Annual Conference 2026 Along The ‘Knowledge Mile’ In Amsterdam

The conference highlighted how universities of applied sciences bridge the gap between research, industry and society. It provided insights into career paths, entrepreneurship and professional doctorates.
Three colleagues from UAS Technikum Wien, Elisabeth Froschauer-Neuhauser and Ingrid Preusche (Quality Assurance) and Agnes Kriz (International Office) recently attended EURASHE Annual Conference 2026 in Amsterdam focused on the future of applied research, innovation, and international collaboration in higher education. A key message throughout the conference was the growing importance of transdisciplinary approaches to address complex societal challenges. Universities of Applied Sciences were highlighted as important connectors between research, education, industry, government, and society.
The Development Of Professional Doctorate Programmes In The Netherlands
Sessions explored topics such as new career pathways for applied researchers, the expanding role of researchers in innovation ecosystems, entrepreneurship in higher education, and the development of Professional Doctorate programmes in the Netherlands. Discussions also emphasized the opportunities created by European University Alliances, including increased collaboration, researcher mobility, and access to international funding networks.
The conference provided valuable insights and inspiration for strengthening our institution’s work in quality assurance, research, innovation, and internationalization.
