UAS Technikum Wien on a delegation trip to India

On the initiative of Rafael Rasinger and Robert Pucher and organized by AUSSENWIRTSCHAFT AUSTRIA New Delhi, Ajay Singh, and Anusha Kaul, a delegation from UAS Technikum Wien—consisting of one graduate and 15 students—embarked on a week-long trip to India focused on education, technology, and innovation. The tour at the end of November/beginning of December took the group, with participants from all four faculties, fr , the “Silicon Valley of India,” to the capital New Delhi, offering an intensive insight into the dynamics of the Indian research and tech ecosystem.

Bangalore – Science, high tech, and entrepreneurial spirit

The trip kicked off at the Science Gallery Bengaluru, where the delegation was introduced to the interdisciplinary links between science, art, and society. The guided tour of the current exhibition provided a vivid impression of how science is communicated to the public in India.

A highlight was the visit to the renowned Indian Institute of Science (IISc). Presentations on current research and innovation projects and a tour of the Smart Manufacturing Center impressively demonstrated the speed at which India is developing new technologies. In discussion rounds, the students exchanged ideas with researchers and innovation managers.

In the afternoon, the program included a visit to the campus of the Presidency, where modern teaching methods, practical research, and international openness are at the forefront. This encounter gave the students valuable insights into the Indian higher education landscape.

The next day, the group visited the Bangalore Bioinnovation Centre (BBC). The centre is considered one of the most important biotech innovation hubs in the country. During the tour, it became clear how start-ups are supported there and how new biotechnological developments are accompanied until they are ready for the market. Afterwards, the group was given a rare insight into the Indian aerospace industry at Ananth Technologies , particularly into the production of key components for the Indian space programme.

New Delhi – Startup ecosystem, politics, and sustainability

After flying on to Delhi, the Austrian Foreign Trade Organization welcomed the delegation to a briefing. This was followed by visits to two key institutions in the state innovation promotion system:

Both events demonstrated the breadth of India’s investment in innovation promotion and the close cooperation between government, business, and research.

At the Austrian Business Circle Dinner, the delegation met with representatives of the Austrian and Indian innovation communities in Delhi – a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas about joint projects and cooperation opportunities.

On the last day of the program, the group visited ÖSEL, a manufacturer of LED screens, hearing aids, and feature phones. The trip concluded with a visit to the Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT) , one of the country’s leading technical universities.

The trip to India offered an exceptionally comprehensive insight into a country that is rapidly developing into a global center of innovation. For delegation leaders Rafael Rasinger and Robert Pucher, the graduates, and the 15 students from the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien, the week was not only an exciting professional journey of discovery—it also opened up new perspectives for international cooperation, scientific exchange, and future joint projects between Austria and India.
