Kick-Off Blended Intensive Programme 2.0 in Finland

14 March, 2023

From February 27th to March 3rd 2023, the kick-off week for the Blended Intensive Program (BIP) “Technology in a Smart Society” was again taking place in Finland.

The participants of the program got to know each other at our partner institution Lapin AMK in Rovaniemi. Along with students from the Lapin AMK and Fontys University of Applied Sciences, students from the Bachelor Computer Science and Bachelor Mechatronics/Robotics study programs started projects during that week, on which they will work during the summer semester 2023. The aim is to develop solutions for application to everyday problems in areas such as agriculture, infrastructure, transport, healthcare, the workplace or robotics. The total of 36 students were divided into six groups and completed team-building tasks during the week in Rovaniemi as well as attended workshops on Morobots, Node-RED and Machine Vision to lay the foundation for their projects. The teams decide on their project topic and implementation of the solution approach independently. In May 2023, the project participants will meet for a week in Vienna and present their finished projects at the end of the week.

At the same time, the Blended Intensive Program “Technological innovation to support coaching in sports and health” of the Bachelor Human Factors and Sports Engineering study program started in cooperation with Lapin AMK and the Brno University of Technology in the Czech Republic. The aim of this project is to help trainers improve, monitor or evaluate the training of athletes, which is achieved with the help of data collected by sensors and their analysis.

BIPs are particularly suitable for students who, for any reason, cannot undertake a long-term mobility, such as a semester or internship abroad, and who are interested in working in an international project team.
