Information Systems Management

Master´s degree program at UAS Technikum Wien

Overview

Designers of the Digital Future

As future IT managers and “shapers of the digital future,” our graduates combine technical expertise with sound management skills to lead companies securely and purposefully into a successful digital future.

Whether a small regional business or a large international corporation, almost every company relies on qualified business IT specialists. They design operational processes and organizational structures to be efficient, sustainable, and future-oriented through the targeted use of modern information technologies.

In addition to mastering current IT systems and digital trends, our graduates have comprehensive knowledge of strategic planning, process optimization, and business management. The interdisciplinary education enables a holistic view of economic relationships and specifically prepares students for demanding specialist and management tasks.

A particular highlight of the program is the opportunity to participate in international double degree programs, such as the master’s program in IT, Digitalization & Sustainability at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU) or the Data Science program at the Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires (ITBA).

Career Prospects

Business informatics is a profession that is in high demand internationally. Graduates
find attractive career paths in almost all industries—whether in business, the
public sector, industry, or management consulting.

With their interdisciplinary qualifications at the interface between IT and management, they take on responsible tasks involving operational information systems. These include the planning and implementation of digitization initiatives, the introduction of complex IT systems, and the coordination and integration of digital solutions into existing business processes.

Graduates of the Master’s program in Business Informatics qualify for specialist and management positions, for example as IT project managers, IT consultants, data warehouse designers, big data analysts, or chief information officers (CIOs).

Requirements

Master’s degree programs build on a completed bachelor’s degree program and allow students to specialize or focus on topics in more detail or to expand their existing expertise.

You must meet subject-matter requirements to be admitted to the Information Systems Management master’s degree program. Prerequisites include a bachelor’s degree from a UAS in a relevant subject matter or an equivalent degree from a recognized post-secondary educational institution (at least 180 ECTS credits) in Austria or another country.

If basic equivalence has been established except for a few missing prerequisites, the program director can require students to take exams to establish full equivalence. These exams are taken during the master’s program.
